The Word of the Lord of Sunday of the ascending of Christ to heaven, the redeemed
The church celebrates and reflects the ascending of Christ to heaven. Of redemption, marks the fulfillment of the redemption, which began with the incarnation: just as Jesus descended from heaven, for us suffered and died on the cross, so for us it was revived in heaven, near Him, which is not far away from us, but is our God, our Father. From there, of redeem, is the last act of our liberation from the yoke of sin

The Catholic Church of the Roman rite celebrates the solemnity of the ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven, a celebration that is known to Albanians as the feast of the redemption. The feast of redeemed is the solemnity that remembers that everyone is called for eternal life. This holiday remembers the conclusion of the visible attitude of Jesus Christ God among the people, which was followed by the spread of Christianity around the world.
The liturgy of the feast of the redemptage detaches us from everyday life, to bring us to the mystery of the dead and aroused Christ. Thus, the Catholic Church, this Sunday, celebrates the solemnity of Christ’s ascension to heaven, which was celebrated in the Vatican last Thursday, exactly 40 days after Easter. With the celebration of the ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven it is remembered the end of the visible attitude of God among the people, which was followed by the spread of Christianity around the world. As the Gospel informs us, it was a necessary ‘goodbye’ of Christ’s ascension to heaven, the return to the Divine Father, who fulfilled the redemption: « If I do not go, it will not come to you the comforter, but if I go, I will send it to you » – so Jesus told the Apostles, as St. John tells us.
At this holiday, the Christian community is called, therefore, to point out his eyes from the one who, forty days after the resurrection, on how fascinated the apostles, climbed up before their eyes disappear after a cloud. Ascending to heaven, he reopening us the way to our permanent homeland, which is paradise. Now, with the power of his soul, it helps us in our daily pilgrimage on earth. These words remind us of the meaning of the solemnity of the redemption. Forty days after appearing the apostles with his usual human appearance, which hid the river of the resurrected, the catechism of the Catholic Church explains – Christ ascends to heaven and hangs to the Father’s right. He is the Lord, who already reigns with his humanity in the eternal river of the Son of God, repeatedly mediated in our favor to the Father. He sends us his soul and gives us hope that one day we will reach the place that has prepared us.
Ascending to the ‘heights’, he never reveals to us his divinity: he returns from where he came from, that is, to the Father, after accomplishing his mission on earth. In addition, Christ ascends to heaven, after taking over human nature, which it raised from the dead: this human nature is our nature, transformed, divined, eternal. Therefore we say that every man is called to life in the kingdom of God, the kingdom of love, of light, of peace.
We must be sure that God is not far from us, he is not in any place of the universe, where no one can reach. He has raised his tent among us: in Jesus, he has become one of us, with flesh and blood, like us. He himself, with his corpus, remains among us as one of us. We can call her by name and talk to her. He listens to us, and if we pay him, we will also hear when he responds. In Jesus it is the Lord who awaits us!
