The winning studios for the modernization of government residences in Velipoja and Vlora are announced
Two architectural studios, « Saunders Architecture » and « Practica », have been announced the winner in the international competition for the repair and modernization of government residences in Velipoja and Vlora, in the framework of the strategic project « Hospitality Albania ». The purpose of this initiative is to transform these depreciated residences into modern and exclusive structures, increasing the tourist potential of the respective destinations and turning them into spaces for the hospitality of high -level personalities from international politics, culture, art and entrepreneurship without violating state ownership.
The winning project for Velipoja’s residence, proposed by « Saunders Studio », was praised for its approach to preserving the identity and surrounding nature, through a building that combines the old with the new. Particularly emphasized the idea of the vertical tower and the opening of the community residence for public functions. For the residence of Vlora, where four projects were presented, the proposal of the studio « Practica » was praised for the harmonious integration of the landscape with architecture through terraces that interconnected the structure with the surrounding environment. The jury emphasized careful research and creative approach to location.
« Hospitality Albania », is a government initiative aimed at returning high potential state assets into elite centers of hospitality and tourism, contributing to sustainable economic development and international promotion of Albania as a luxury tourist destination. The presentation of the projects of the second phase finalists took place at a special event with the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama and an international jury specialized in the field of architecture.
