The wife after conditional judgment: « A great relief »
The Court of Ankara considers that the Swedish journalist was guilty of insulting Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Andreas Gustavsson, editor -in -chief of today’s etc, says that he and Sofie Axelsson were allowed to talk to Joakim Medin’s lawyer after the verdict fell.
– He said something like it must be considered a victory to have a conditional judgment for this type of prosecution in Turkey, says Andreas Gustavsson.
However, he points out that it feels morally wrong to consider a convict against a – according to him innocent – journalist, as a victory.
– But purely pragmatically, a prosecution is gone. This means that Joakim is one step closer to getting home. It could have been worse.
In spite of the conditional judgment Will Joakim Medin spend more time in prison, waiting for the next trial. Only in about three weeks is a new trial date is expected to be communicated, according to Gustavsson.
– But that prosecution is no stronger than the prosecution that was handled today.

– It is difficult to determine in Turkey, but the prosecution is built with the same type of evidence as this, says Andreas Gustavsson.
