Given the worldwide commercial and economic development, the global ECCO shoe manufacturer has decided to change the distribution of its production capacities to meet the market needs.
As a result, it will discontinue production in his plant in Martin in the summer after almost 30 years.
« When assessing our model of six global production plants, we had to make a difficult decision to close our plant in Martin, » said ECCO CEO Petr Milan, CEO, saying that the company management is preparing compensatory packages for employees as well as other measures in accordance with the collective agreement to help people overcome this complex situation.
« We are currently doing everything in our power to provide our employees with the necessary help and care in this difficult situation, » added Milan.
The plant in Martin started production in 1998. The factory, which specializes in formal and occasional product categories, has supplied more than 50 million pairs of footwear to all world markets during its existence.
The current situation in the plant in Martin will not affect the ecco retail network in Slovakia.
