The waters made a break. Flooded households, blocked streets, evacuations
Nine localities in Covasna county are affected by floods following the abundant rains of the last days, the most serious situations being registered in Boroșneu Mare, Băcel and Lunca Mărcușului, informs the County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
According to the quoted source, over 20 houses and 25 households are affected in Boroșneu Mare and about 800 hectares of agricultural land have been controlled. In the area, the dams were exceeded by the water level and DJ131 is blocked due to floods.
In the town of Lunca Mărcușului and in the village of Băcel, at the confluence of the Negru river with the rivers Olt and Tărlung, about 60 people were evacuated, including six children.
In the city of Covasna, four homes and an economic operator are affected and six streets are flooded, including 1 December 1918, temporarily closed after a portion of a protective wall.
In the town of Churuș, nearby, there was intervened to evacuate the water from a home and currently work to strengthen the nearby dam and in the leisure area.
In Belin, a serious protection of the protective dam has increased the risk of floods for several households and in Brateș a breach was created in the pier and the works are underway.
In the town of Zărătău two households are affected and a bridge end between Zăbătău and Crasna was destroyed by water.
Forces from ISU Sibiu, Argeș and Brașov were sent to support the intervention crews from Covasna county and will arrive additional forces from ISU Bucharest, Hunedoara and Dâmbovița.
The Minister of the Environment, Mircea Fechet, came, Wednesday afternoon, to Băcel to see the situation on the ground, to talk to the locals and local authorities and to check the mobilization of the teams and the coordination of the interventions. He said the situation is critical and the next 24 hours will be decisive.
