The vote counting by Greece begins today
It is expected to begin today at 08:30 am the number of diaspora votes that have come from Greece.
There are about 50,000 votes with envelopes from the southern neighbor who were set aside by the CEC after being contested by the DP.
On the other hand, the vote counting from other states has ended. 246,000 Albanians living abroad were registered in the CEC online system to vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections. But of these, 194,000 immigrants expressed their verdict by turning the CEC with the vote.
About 20,000 envelopes never arrived at the destination while the rest of the Diaspora representatives did not deserve to return the envelope.
Yesterday the Electoral College made the decision to overturn the claim of the Democratic Party, which demanded the repeal of the decision of the State Administration Commission (KAS).
The DP had opposed allowing Greece’s diaspora vote counting, considering this a violation of the procedures. The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, accepted the DP’s complaint and ordered the suspension of the count for Greece’s votes, which were separated from other envelopes.
Meanwhile, KAS rejected the Celibashi order and decided to accept the counting of these votes as part of the electoral process.
The Electoral College, after reviewing the request, has described the DP request as invalid, confirming the validity of Greece’s vote count.
