The Vienna Opera Ball, for the first time to smell this year – the press.com

Even without Richard Lugner: Many prominent guests are announced for the 67th opera ball. They can now smell the ball at home.

The girls jump in time. With flowers in hand, the debutants bounce up and down in front of their dance partners. It should symbolize spring feelings and in the full opera that is really good when 160 women jump at the same time.

Anyone who dances in the first rows will not be left to chance: Sophie-Marie Hofmann, daughter of Rapid Managing Director Steffen Hofmann, Larissa Mikl, daughter of the Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP), and ambassador daughter Katharina Schneebauer are among the jumping debutants. She dances with Moritz Jeitler, son of MP Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli (ÖVP) and the forensic expert Georg H. Jeitler.

If the Vienna State Opera is again decorated from the basement to the roof with elaborate flower arrangements (this year in pink, red, yellow, yellow, orange and blue tones) when it comes to seeing and seeing again, then there is an opera ball again.

The audience hums with

For the 67th time, the most important (and also the most opulent) ball of the Vienna Ball season should take place on Thursday evening. More than 5000 guests had also announced themselves in the Vienna State Opera this year and of course everything sounds like the waltz king here in the bouquet year. Soprano Nadine Sierra inspires Johann Strauß with the « spring voice waltz ». A alley of the opera world who immediately lets some of the guests hum in. It has not been handed down whether Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and wife Doris Schmidauer participate. In any case, they sit as surprise guests on the dress rehearsal in the lodge, as well as they have announced themselves on the ball evening.

Tenor Juan Diego Flórez passionately sings his aria « Bella Enamorada » from « El último Romántico » in Spanish. The guests had already clapped wildly when the Vienna State Ballet – dressed in black, shiny costumes – performed Johann Strauß's « Kaiserwalzer ». By the way, for the first time with four students from the in -house ballet school – which were visibly proud of it.

Favorite conversation with the microphone

But back to the debutants. The choreography of the Santner dance school this year feels much more interesting than last year – just with jumps, complicated lines and formations. « We switch from eight positions in a line to 16, which makes it a bit tight, » said Maria Angelini-Santner of the « press ». This creates “eyes”, which are particularly important in the ORF ceiling cameras.

Angelini-Santner is probably the person who can be heard the most on the opera ball. Not in personal, profound conversations, but on the gallery above the orchestra. She has something very important to do « at twelve, two and four o'clock » – the quadrilla for half an hour. « That means my favorite conversation is into the microphone with myself, » she explains and laughs.

There is also no time for profound conversations on the Red Carpet, where the famous guests finally step up the festival under a lot of flash storms. So you know them. « Who is that? » Is one of the most heard questions on the opera ball.

Ed Westwick and Leni Klum

The list of famous personalities has recently expanded. Due to the lack of the late construction lion Richard Lugner and the spectacle around a guest of honor (his daughter Jacqueline, which was rather reduced in advance, the Opera Ball 2025 was rather slower.

But they finally came. On the day of the ball, the participation of « Gossip Girl » actor Ed Westwick was confirmed and that of the models Leni Klum (daughter of Heidi) and Candice Swanepoel. Also among the trendy guests: actress Kristina Sprenger, model Nadine Mirada, racing driver Corinna Kamper, choreographer Bruce Darnell and opera singer Zoryana Kushpler.

For the guests behind the camera, there was comparatively little new to discover in the opera, but to taste some and to sniff some things. With Steirereck & Friends, the former Heurige is played by Heinz Reitbauer and changing restaurateurs every year. This year are the Philipp Rachinger (Mühltalhof) and the Mochi Vienna team. And Alexander Lauber von Wiener Blood created a fragrance for the opera ball for the first time. The unisex perfume « Ballroom Bohème » is to be served as a women's donation-and will be sold from now on. Now you can smell the opera ball, whether you were there or not.

At a glance

The 67th Viennese opera ball was scheduled in the State Opera on Thursday evening. Around 5100 guests from home and abroad should come together in the Vienna State Opera, which is colorfully decorated with flowers. Among them, for example, model subsidiary Leni Klum and « Gossip Girl » actor Ed Westwick or racing driver Corinna Kamper.
