The Vatican sealed the apartments of Pope Francis
After the death of Pope Franciszek, the Vatican began official procedures, and sealing the apartments is one of the official procedures carried out after the death of the Holy Father.
On the same day in the evening, in the chapel of the Holy House of Marta, where Pope Francis lived and died, the rite of official confirmation of his death took place.

According to the Vatican, a death certificate was read during the ceremony, which was confirmed by Camerling of the Holy Roman Church, Cardinal Kevin Farrell. After this formalities, a prayer took place.
The whole rite lasted about an hour and was an important part of the official actions taken after the Pope’s death.
The Vatican’s press office announced that the chapel on the ground floor of the Holy House of Marta was made available to collaborators of the Pope. They can now pray at his coffin.

Pope’s funeral date
According to reports from the Vatican, funeral ceremonies are to take place on the weekend, and the conclave may start between 5 and 10 May. Specific dates will be given after today’s Cardinals’ Congregation.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Apostolic Constitution, « Universi Dominici Gregis » by John Paul II of 1996, the Pope’s funeral should take place between the fourth and sixth day after his death. Italian media suggest that the most likely date is Saturday, April 26. Funeral ceremonies will be chaired by 91-year-old Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
