The US State Department has welcomed the Kosovo Government’s decision to accept migrants from the US
The US State Department has welcomed the decision of the Kosovo Government to accept up to 50 immigrants from the United States of America.
The decision of the meeting held today was said that immigrants would stay in Kosovo in order to facilitate their safe return to the country of origin.
In a statement to CBS News, the large US news network, the US State Department said: « We welcome cooperation in this key priority of the Trump administration »
« We are grateful to our partner Kosovo for the acceptance of third -country nationals left the United States and to facilitate the safe return of those foreigners to their countries, » the State Department added.
In a statement to CBS News, the Kosovo Embassy in the US confirmed the agreement on the admission of the deported.
« In response to the United States’ request regarding the admission and relocation of third -country nationals, we have expressed our willingness to cooperate with the United States in dealing with this issue in accordance with the conditions set, » the embassy statement reads.
The Kosovo Embassy explained that the agreement provides for 50 people deported from other countries to be temporarily relocated to Kosovo, while authorities work to enable their safe return to their countries of origin.
« It is unclear who exactly can be sent from the US to Kosovo or which countries will be. Typically, the US uses third -country deportation agreements to deport immigrants whose countries will not take again, in some cases due to tense diplomatic relations.
The Kosovo Embassy said the government in Pristina would require « the opportunity to select individuals from a proposed group, provided they meet the specific criteria related to the rule of law and public order. »
