Service trade union PAM's two -day strike Finland's largest ski resorts started on Monday after midnight.
The ski resorts of Levi, Ylläs, Äkäslompolo, St. Vuokatti, Tahko and Kasurila are among the strikes. The strike ends late Tuesday evening.
The strike hits the ski holiday week in northern Finland. According to Mara, a tourism and restaurant service representing employers, ski resorts do their best to keep the slopes open and ski resorts enjoy their holidays.
The strike is based on the controversy of PAM and Mara for a new collective agreement in the ski resort. The work dispute is in mediation and was still being solved on Friday last week but to no avail.
According to Pam, the goals of the negotiating parties on wage increases and redundancy protection were still so far apart that the national mediator did not consider that he could give a reconciliation proposal. The Employee Association criticized the employer for the reluctance to find a solution.
