The truth behind the ingredients will make you bad

When the sun finally looks over England in an otherwise wet spring weekend, the grill usually moves out of the shed, and the table is covered with burgers, sausages and of course the firm companions:

Ketchup and mayonnaise.

But in the midst of preparations for cozy gatherings, a handful of Tiktok videos have put an end to the appetite of many.

Because while it is a matter of course that ketchup contains tomato, not everyone has seen what mayonnaise in reality consists of.

The reactions have not let go.

A simple home posting where a user demonstrates the classic recipe has made many of the keys, and someone even turned into disgust.

Mayonnaise is simply made of oil, egg yolks, something sour like vinegar or lemon juice and a little salt.

The modest list of ingredients has caused people to close their eyes, especially at the thought of the raw eggs that are central to the recipe.

« How is mayonnaise safe when it contains raw eggs? » asking a confused user in the comments track while another adds:

« I still remember how betrayed I felt the day I found out how mayonnaise is actually being made. »

Among the reactions, shocks and wonderful hand go hand in hand, and especially the color arouses questions, for how a yellow egg yolk transforms into the white cream that is generously smeared on the barbecue bread?

The explanation lies in the chemistry. When the ingredients are whipped together, air and oil are incorporated into the egg yolk and the emulsifying process changes the color.

The whole thing is quite harmless, for the eggs used today, are usually pasteurized and thus free of bacteria such as salmonella.

Nevertheless, many people have a hard time returning to their favorite dressing with the same appetite as before. Some have even written that they will never see mayonnaise with the same eyes again.
