‘The thief of this silver should be cursed forever …’, says the curse
« The handful of the thief that touches This silver is to be damned forever … « , it was engraved on the vessels from ancient times that the archaeologists of the Vinkovci City Museum presented to this day in 2012 to reporters from Croatia and the world as a sensational archeological finding. They were excavated several days before that, next to the Nama building in Vinkovci, Zeljko Garmaz then said for 24 hours.
At the request of Patricia, Roman masters engraved this message in silver dishes as a curse, hoping to preserve it from theft. It is assumed that it is a vessel dating from the 4th century. Immediately after the finding, he was sent to Zagreb for a restoration, and archaeologists hoped that they might find the owner’s seal in the process. However, since the process of washing such old vessels is extremely slow and complicated, the Zagreb restorers’ estimates from 2018 suggested that it could take at least ten years for the job. So, if there is a engraved sign of the owner on the vessels, it will take more time to discover it.
Invented a pencil with an eraser – in vain
Writer Hymen Lipman patented a pencil with an eraser at the top on March 30, 1858. Joseph Rekendorfer, an entrepreneur, assumed that a pencil with an eraser would be a complete hit and persuaded Lipman to sell him a patent. He bought it for $ 100,000 at the time, which would be about $ 2 million today.
But, unfortunately, the Supreme Court abolished the Supreme Court in 1875, explaining that the invention was « in fact a combination of two already known things that had no new use. » The pencil eraser became a complete hit only after 60 years. Around 1920, all pencils with an eraser were sold out.
