Tampere The university will hold a day -long strike on Wednesday, May 7, and a university bulletin reported on Tuesday morning.
The strike covers the entire university staff, except for the tasks that are excluded from the strike.
SIVIVI (Education Association) and Employees’ Associations Juko ry, Pro and JHL Association have been negotiating a general collective agreement for universities since the beginning of February.
In late April, the university announced that it would launch a strike if the working conditions and wage increases of Finland’s thirteen university employees were not before.
The negotiating parties have not reached the reconciliation, so the strike will be realized.
Mediation for collective agreement dispute continues under the leadership of a national mediator, according to an internal newsletter at the university. The reason for the April announcement in April is the acceleration of collective bargaining negotiations.
University strikes are quite rare. The last time university students strike at the University of Helsinki seven years ago.
