Paola, 50 years old, Milanese meets the Bosco muse, who has the traits of a beagle despite being an intersection with a hound, on the page of Animal courier dedicated to adoptions. And he talks about it to her husband Marco and his children, Ludovica, Filippo and Beatrice. “He had moved his muse to me. And then for some time we wanted to try with an adoption of the heart. We had already adopted cats in the past ». And in fact in Paola there are also two cats, Arturo And Bizet. Thus, the family contacts Lav, which has overlooking the forest.
His story is terrible: he is 14 years old and, in 2023, he was seized together with two other dogs, River And Miningto a hunter accused of mistreatment and beatings. Paola and her family come forward without hesitation: «He did not scare us to know that it would be demanding to follow him for his health and perhaps even expensive. We didn’t care, We wanted to give him a family for the few years of life that remained». And so Bosco – soon nicknamed « Mario » – arrives in Milan and the setting with the two cats of the house is fine. “It’s not that they went to sleep in the same kennel, but they got along. And then, we welcomed him with joy, love and trust – says Paola – the first night slept like a stone in his cradle. Then he began to smell the whole house. We took him for a walk and he explored everything with curiosity. He made friends with other dogs in the park. At the supermarket the cashiers took him in their arms and kissed him ». In short, everything proceeds at best and the family is in seventh heaven.
Until one evening the dog refuses the meal. And it becomes more frequent. The walk is tiring. The alarm to the veterinarian is immediate, which has exams. The report is inauspicious: Bosco is a terminal patient due to tumors who have developed quickly. After only ten days, for Paola, Marco and their children, it’s time to say goodbye to Bosco. A Lav volunteer accompanies them to the clinic, where he will be asleep.
What remains in hearts after such an experience? «So much gratitude. He made us feel useful, happy. We are not repentant of this adoption of the heart, going back we would choose it again. In the meantime, we have decided to become regular donors of the association, so that they can take care of other dogs like our Mario »concludes Paola.
