The stone on Esjan rolled
Steinn, Esjunnar’s main peculiarity, rolled in the days and now lies on the side. It is unlikely the stone Steinn will be rebuilt and the way up to him is probably a meter shorter.
Sif Sumarliðadóttir runner was aware of this when she went up to Esja with her girlfriends this morning. She believes this was likely to happen at night or early this morning, as she met with people who said the stone had stood upright yesterday. Indication first reported.

« He had a chain, she has worn, » says Sif. « But this is not a long fall.«
The way to stone has become slightly shorter
In 2015 discussed mbl.is that Steinn had moved and leaned considerably downwards.
The Reykjavík Scorpio Association, which manages the path in Esjuhlíð, had therefore nailed the stone down so it did not fall. But it doesn’t seem to have been enough.
« We are going to look at this this weekend, » says Auður Kjartansdóttir, Managing Director of the Forestry Association in a conversation with mbl.is Auður says that at this time of year, boulders can easily get rid of the mountain.
Evaluate what can be done
« You have to be careful at this time of year after frost and mean winter, and so much rainy season. Then there can be a little danger that boulders are free, » she says. Every spring, people on the company’s roads go up the mountain to release rocks that could cause danger.
