The state of emergency was declared in Spain! – Cyprus Newspaper


After a large power outage of a large part of Spain, the Ministry of Interior announced that it was declared a state of emergency (state of emergency).

The Ministry said that the state of emergency will be valid in the regions that reports in need. So far, Madrid, Andalusia and Extremadura regions have demanded the central government to take over the control of public order and critical services.

Situation under control in nuclear power plants

Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, said in a statement that the exact cause of the interruption has not yet been identified, warned citizens to avoid speculation. Sanchez announced that electricity has started to be regained in the northern and southern regions of the country with the support received from France and Morocco. The Prime Minister also called on the public to rely on official statements and asked them to minimize their telephone use. In particular, he emphasized that telephone calls should be done in short and necessary cases to protect the telecommunications infrastructure.

Sanchez said that the security forces throughout the country will increase the existence of the streets and that there has been no serious security violations. Sanchez stated that hospitals continue to serve, that there is no extraordinary situation in the ports, and that the air traffic was reduced and the train flights were suspended for security reasons.

The deductions also jumped to Portugal and France

The effects of power outages were not limited to Spain. In Portugal, traffic lights were disabled and subway flights were stopped in Lisbon and Porto cities. While card payments could not be made in Lisbon, the capital, airline companies called for passengers not to go to the airports. Tap Air asked the passengers to stay in their homes until a new announcement was made.

In France, short -term power outages were experienced in some regions after the interruptions from Spain and Portugal. RTE, France’s energy network operator, reported that the impact of cuts is limited and that the energy flow in the regions has returned to normal in a short time.
