Volleyball lovers will be able to see the Slovenian men’s path to success in a documentary series entitled Brothers off the field. It will premiere on May 12. On the NEO platform, it is a story about a country with two million inhabitants, the smallest one who has ever performed in the Olympic tournament and has one of the best volleyball players in the world.

The achievements of Slovenian volleyball players were inspiration for a documentary series, whose idea leader is a former volleyball player, occasional national team and later also the leader of the men’s national team Alen Djordjevic.

“The boys really forgot about the camera”

He was in 2023 as a national team manager together with the Slovenian team in Japan in qualifying for the Paris Olympics. At first it was his idea of ​​making a film about the thorny path of Slovenian volleyball players. After accompanying the volleyball players in the tournament and recorded more behind -the -scenes staff, it soon became clear that the material would be huge. “When we saw how much material we have, what stories we recorded, we decided on the series. At first, I had no support, just the idea, « Djordjevic told STA.

“With a small camera, I wanted to take behind the backstage of qualifications. In the start, I promised the boys that it would be a story for Netflix, not to record for social networks and the like that the boys can really be relaxed. Our agreement was only to win a medal at the Olympics, « the concept author explained.

“The boys really forgot about the camera. We all worked for it, we all believed in the result that in the end there would be something special. On the other hand, he had a similar idea that this story needed to be perpetuated, also Gasper Pavliwhom we co -authored the whole series, « explained Djordjevic, who did not know Pavli before.

“We didn’t even know each other before, then our paths crossed. He is the creative director of Sportmediafocus. We put the story a little more, we had the same ideas on how to see it best.
