The sleigh dog sports season will be opened by green cucumbers, which will also be the Baltic Cup / Day

The sleigh dog sports competition « Green Cucumbers » has been in this interesting name, as additional high -level athletes are always starting to begin with beginners. This race usually starts a sleigh dog sports off -time season, but this year it will be the first competition for this sport in Latvia, as the lack of snow in January and later the World Cup race in Madona could not take place.

The traditional season opening competition « Green Cucumbers » is designed for beginners for trial and elite athletes to open the season. The competition will take place again on the first Saturday of April in Ropazi County Garkalne Parish Forest near the Asaru Lake and the Payers. The track will take about 4 km long on the forest roads. The children, on the other hand, will have a separate track of 1km. The start is at 11am.

Currently, 105 participants from three countries have been announced in classes of beginners, elites, children, and dog veterans, but their numbers will increase slightly. « The fact that many children have applied for three age groups last year, and these classes have applied free of charge thanks to Ropazi County, » says Mārtiņš Kristons, the organizer of the competition.

Athletes, together with the dogs, will compete in a bicycle card, a scooter, or scooter, bicycle, or biking and jogging, or canicosa disciplines. The awards will be a separate class of beginners and experienced athletes. This year there will also be a novelty introduced last year, namely a dog veteran class, with experienced sleigh tractors over the age of 10, including former Latvian, Baltic and world champions. This year, the organizers offer a training or tourist class for any International sleigh Sports Federation (IFSS) offset sleigh dog sports discipline.

The participants will also be able to see the titled athletes of all three Baltic States who have won medals or won the World and European Championships.
