Kyiv calls for more pressure on Moscow

Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha spoke of the most massive Russian air raid for many weeks and a difficult Sunday for Ukraine with a sleepless night. Russia used hundreds of drones, cruise missiles and ballistic rockets against cities and municipalities. « While the whole world calls for an end to killing, Putin arranges even more blows, attacks and murders on children, » Sybiha wrote on the platform X. It takes an unconditional and durable ceasefire for peace negotiations. The global community must increase the pressure on the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin.

The current pressure was insufficient, the head of the Presidential Chancellery, Andrij Jermak, said at Telegram. « Nothing will change without pressure, and Russia and its allies will only build forces for such murders in western countries. Moscow will fight as long as it has the opportunity to produce weapons. »

Air traffic in Moscow temporarily affected

The mayor of Moscow, Sergej Sobjanin, said, however, that twelve drones that were traveling towards the Russian capital could be intercepted. According to the Russian civil aviation authority, air traffic was restricted at at least four airports, including the largest Moscow airport Scheremetjewo.

According to government, 110 drones coming from Ukraine were made harmless via Russia on night. 13 of them were intercepted above the Moscow area and the TWER region adjacent to the capital, the Ministry of Defense said. At first there was no information about victims. The Ministry also left open how many drones had attacked Ukraine as a whole.

Camping, but no ceasefire

The new attacks occurred against the background of the largest prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine since the beginning of the war three years ago. On Friday, both sides had returned 390 prisoners each, and 307 prisoners were released on Saturday. A total of 1,000 prisoners are to be replaced, as had been agreed in Istanbul in Istanbul a week ago for the first direct Russian-Ukrainian talks. (APA/dpa/Reuters/AFP)
