The significant change in the Greek Cup for the « Little »

On Tuesday morning (6/5), the EPO presented a new proposal for the Greek Cup, with a new format, which will be very reminiscent of European events.

One of the big changes that will occur has to do with the participation of young players, since it will now be compulsory to have a footballer who was born in 2004 onwards.

The regulation for young players in the Greek Cup

Beyond that, this young athlete should also have the right to participate in National Greece, with his presence compulsory throughout the race, as in the extension.

At the same time, in the event of a change it should be replaced by a footballer who meets the same criteria, while in which the « little one » is eliminated, only then the above do not apply.

The new proposal for the Greek Cup format

The biggest change that the EPO will make in the Greek Cup is League Phase, a single group phase of UEFA competitions, featuring all Super League teams with a joint score. Just like this year in the Champions League, the Europa League and the Europa Conference League.

This ensures more competitive high -level games from early on, according to the EPO president. The path to the final at the OAKA will have a fully defined schedule, ensuring the transparency and organization of the event. The qualification will be based on the League Phase score, with no draw, with a clear reward for the good run of each team.

Beyond that, there will be the introduction of a new Phase Phase and the quarter -finals in a single knockout is expected to increase the intensity and unpredictable nature of the event.

Among the significant innovations, there is a compulsory involvement of young Greek players to enhance the production process and to strengthen national teams. At the same time, the aggressive approach will be rewarded on the tie criteria, which encourages the spectacle.

Another change is that in some phases of the event, games will be driven directly to the penalty shoot -out, without the extension process, an innovative choice that can limit physical stress and increase drama.
