The seventh International Baltic Ballet Competition / Day will take place in Riga in June

The motto of the International Baltic Ballet Competition Everything is possible … And you can! Invites participants to prove their talent and craftsmanship and to reach the heights of excellence.

Professional classical ballet school students and classical ballet dancers in three age groups (12 to 14 years, 15 to 18 years, from 19 to 26) will participate in the competition rounds. They represent countries such as Turkey, Greece, Australia, Japan, Germany, Ukraine Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, etc. The International Baltic Ballet Competition has become an important event in Latvian dance art – it inspires, brings Latvia to the world ballet map.

The special guests of this year’s concert will be Lisa Pavlova and Michael Belilov, the leading soloists of the Berlin Ballet company, Kleber Rebello, the leading soloist of the Toulouse Opera Ballet, and Ludmila Konovalov, the Vienna State Ballet Star. The concert will also feature former Berlin State Ballet and Miami City Ballet Prime Minister Rainer Krensteter, who is a winner of countless ballet competitions.

« We are particularly happy to meet with many talented participants this year, as well as the prominent jury and, of course, the audience. This year, especially fierce competition will be in the oldest group of professional ballet artists, which guarantees that we can enjoy a really interesting and diverse artistic program. The winners of the contest and enjoy the performance of their special guests.

The contestants will be evaluated by an international jury, chaired by Aivars Leimanis, the artistic director of the Latvian National Ballet. International experts are invited to the jury – Jolanta Ribarska (Poland), an associate professor at the Split Theater Academy, Almira Osmanovich (Croatia), Ballet Dancer of Paris Opera and Professor of Dance, and Dance Professor Zilbert Maier (France), Director (Lithuania), Deputy Manager of Berlin Ballet School, Marek Rosickis (Germany), choreographer, dancer and educator Zdenek Prosse (Czech Republic), dancer and educator Rainer Krensteter (Austria, USA) and the Latvian National Ballet reporter, Riga Ballet School teacher Ilya Vlasenko.

The winners of the competition will receive cash prizes as well as internships in European ballet schools. During the competition, alongside the competition, participants will be given the opportunity to participate in master classes.

The International Baltic Ballet Contest has been going on since 2013. This is evidenced by the growing importance of both the great interest of the participants from around the world, as well as participation in the International Ballet Competitions Federation. The competition has several equally important goals: opening new talents, development of education in the choreography industry, preserving classical ballet traditions, improving pedagogical activities, and developing international creative cooperation and cultural exchange.
