The security of Ukraine. Bolojan goes to Paris

Interim president Ilie Bolojan participates on Thursday at the meeting of the state and government chiefs of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ on Security in Ukraine, which will take place in Paris.

According to the agenda, the head of state takes part in this meeting starting at 10:25 (Romania time).

Last week, after the meeting of the European Council in Brussels, interim president Ilie Bolojan was asked what is the main purpose of the Paris Summit and what progress could be recorded.

‘At least in the next period, discussions about this plan that Europe supports will continue to strengthen its defense, including to argue that, after cessation of fire in Ukraine, which we hope will reach as soon as possible, there will be some insurance conditions, in order to have a security to be insured for Ukraine. And, therefore, Romania, even if, as I said before, we will not send in any form troops in Ukraine, it will participate in these discussions, both the technical ones, related to the military area, because these aspects related to planning, strategies, and which transit, for example, in Romania, they need the respective data, for the General Staff to be informed with what is informed. And we will participate in these discussions, so we agreed and this is our position, « Bolojan said on March 20.

Ilie Bolojan participated on March 15 in the meeting in video conferencing format convened by the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, where he emphasized Romania’s commitment to continue support for Ukraine and for the efforts to ensure a sustainable and correct peace.

« Our coordination closely in this process remains essential. We have emphasized Romania’s commitment to continue support for Ukraine and for the efforts to ensure a durable and correct peace. An unconditional cessation of fire is a first step towards this objective, and Ukraine must agree with it, » wrote Ilie Bolojan, on platform X, on Platform X.
