The second reading of the bill limiting the electoral rights of citizens of the Russian Federation has been completed in Riigikogu, BNS writes.

The second reading of the bill on amending the Constitution aimed at restricting electoral rights in local elections of third countries living in Estonia was completed in Riigikoga on Tuesday.

The bill on amendments to the Constitution of the Estonian Republic, initiated by a 61 member of the Riigikoga, provides that citizens of Estonia and stateless persons, as well as citizens of the European Union and NATO countries, will be able to participate in local elections.

The bill assumes that the conditions and procedure for introducing stateless persons and foreign citizens with voting laws with voting law will be established by law.

At the moment, in addition to Estonia and the EU citizens, foreigners living in Estonia on the basis of a long -term visa or permanent resolution, which are 16 years old and who have a permanent place of residence in the corresponding municipality or city, may also participate in local elections.
