The scandal of the road in Baneasa Forest. Fechet threatens with dismissals

The Minister of the Environment, Mircea Fechet, said he would dismiss the entire leadership of the National Forest Registry, together with the management of the Ilfov Forestry Directorate, if the forest road is opened through the Baneasa Forest.

« I am totally against access with cars in the forest, I opposed the beginning-although I was not informed or consulted about such a decision-because we are talking about thousands of cars that would turn a forest road into a highway.
Whoever misinterprets the forest code only violates the law.

It is hallucinating the way, at a time when the public attention is directed on the subject of floods and disaster at Salina Praid, the only emergency of some is how to bypass the law and respond to interests that defy Bucharest. (..) I will not accept that a public institution, Romsilva, will become the prisoner of private interests, instead of defending the interest of Romanians and the natural heritage of Romania. The Baneasa Forest is not a highway and will never become a car transit space just for the comfort of some hasty developers or drivers! This forest road was created for the sustainable management of the forest, not to meet the ambitions of interest groups that see in the forest a simple traffic corridor.

I want to protect, by all legal means, the last urban forest of the capital, the place where people find their peace, relaxation and oxygen. I do not agree to give up any square meter from the Baneasa Forest Forest and I will do everything for me, as a minister of the environment, to stop any attempt to abuse. Those who have signed documents without a legal basis or initiated such steps that transform the forests into highways will answer, ”said Mircea Fechet.

The arrangement of the forest road that crosses the Baneasa forest between Consolight and Padina alley and which would ensure access from the Greenfield neighborhood was long challenged by the civic organizations.
