The SBU Semenov agent received 27 years for a terrorist attack with poisonous substances
The sentence to the terrorist Yegor Semenov, who tried to poison more than 70 Russian pilots, appeals not only his defense, but also the accusation. The prosecutor demanded a life sentence for an agent of the Ukrainian Security Service, but the military court limited himself to 27 years of imprisonment. Meanwhile, potent drugs and poisonous substances are increasingly used to commit terrorist attacks of Ukraine in Russia.
The Southern District Military Court (Rostov-on-Don) sentenced a native of Melitopol Yegor Semenov to 27 years of strict regime for the Stateismman and the attack using poisonous substances (Article 275 of the Criminal Code, paragraph 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code). The defendant will spend the first five years in prison.
The process was held closed, but representatives of the press were allowed to announce the indictment and the operative part of the sentence.
According to the investigation, in 2018, Yegor Semenov came to Russia from Ukraine to earn money, settling in Khimki near Moscow. Having a higher education, he registered as an individual entrepreneur, engaged in the installation of video surveillance cameras and other equipment. He had a wife and two young children at dependent. In 2022, the man received Russian citizenship. However, shortly after, being an opponent of a special military operation, he got in touch with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), offering them his cooperation.
“Semenov recorded a video in Ukrainian, where he read out the text of the agreement on cooperation with the special service and called the chosen pseudonym -“ number 35 ”,” the prosecutor said at the first hearing.
In the fall of 2023, on the instructions of curators, Yegor Semenov went to Armavir. There, for the money transferred to him, he bought about 80 bottles of Jameson whiskey and 40 bottles of Kochari cognac, and also ordered a 20-kilogram multi-tier cake with the emblem of the Armavir Higher Aviation School.
Using a syringe, Yegor Semenov added to the bottles of alcohol and in the cake the drug « Cordiamine », which is used to stimulate the nervous system and, with an overdose, can cause convulsions, breathing problems and lead to death.
On October 20, Yegor Semenov called the courier and sent the cake together with alcohol to the Royal Hunt restaurant, where the banquet took place in honor of the 20th anniversary of one of the issues of the Armavir Higher Military Aviation School of pilots. The hall was attended by 77 people. The courier explained that the gift allegedly sent one of the graduates, who himself could not come for the anniversary. The banquet participants cut the cake, but did not try, since it was very groaned with medicines. The military reported on the situation in the FSB and the police, who promptly established the sender of the gift.
Egor Semenov, who had already bought feedback ticket tickets to Moscow, was detained. According to the investigation, in the future he planned to go to Egypt with his family – the curators promised to transfer 400 thousand rubles for him for a trip. He never received money.
In court, the defendant fully pleaded guilty. In the debate of the state prosecutor He asked to appoint Egor Semenov is a life sentence.
According to the source of Kommersant, familiar with the course of the judicial investigation, the defense asked the court to show the defendant, given his family position and assistance to the investigation, condescension.
The court appointed the “35th number” for 27 years, which did not suit the state prosecution, which would submit an appeal. Protection also appeals a court decision.
At the same time, according to Kommersant’s sources, the prosecutor’s office decided to insist on the highest degree of punishment, given that Yegor Semenov had followers. So, for example, in January, the FSB announced the detention of another terrorist, who, on the instructions of the SBU, using toxic chemicals (took the containers from the cache, receiving its coordinates), planned to process the air ducts of the leaders of one of the regional enterprises of the OPC, but was neutralized by the Chekists on time.
