MEPs approved the amendments on remuneration.
BRATISLAVA. The salaries of employees in education will increase. A surcharge for evaluation of the pedagogical and professional employee is also introduced as a method of superficial remuneration of employees, depending on their performance and quality of work.
This stems from the amendments to the Act on Remuneration of Some Employees in the performance of work in the public interest and pedagogical staff and professional staff approved by MEPs National Council.
How will salaries increase
In the case of pedagogical and professional staff, salary tariffs will increase by seven percent from 1 September and by another five percent from 1 January 2026.
For university teachers and research and development staff, it will be an increase of seven percent from September this year and another seven percent from January next year.
Tariffs will also increase employees working in the education sector. Non -teaching staff will have a new special salary scale.
Performance surcharges will also be added
At the same time, the amendment introduces the possibility for school heads to reward pedagogical and professional employees with a surcharge beyond the area of salaries.
The amount of remuneration will depend on the level of evaluation, between which will be an excellent level and quality or very good level and quality. In a justified case, it will also be possible to grant a surcharge to an employee who has received the result of the standard level and quality.
The Ministry of Education, which is behind the modification, assumes that remuneration of employees according to quality and performance will improve their motivation and work commitment.
Personal surcharge remains preserved
MEPs also approved an amendment from the workshop of the opposition MP John Horecký (KDH). The legislation specifies, inter alia, that the surcharge for evaluation and quality does not affect the personal surcharge.
« This means that the personal surcharge remains the same amount, even if the surcharge for the evaluation is awarded, » he explained. It says IO options for taking a surcharge even for less serious violations of work discipline.
According to the Ministry, the aim of the amendment is to respond to the need to create an attractive and stable working environment for all employees of the education system. It pointed out that the obligation of the government’s policy statement on the growth of wages of educators and professional staff and the improvement of remuneration of non -teaching staff of schools is fulfilled.
