Jānis Dombrava (NA) also pointed out that the CEC is a tool user, not the customer or developer. The Commission has decided that CVK, MEPRD and VDA would be invited to the Commission every two months to report on the preparation for the wishes of the Saeima. The report will include an overview of the work done, planned activities, risks, issues.

Prior to the decision of the Saeima sitting, the draft Saeima was supported by the Saeima Legal Committee.

It has already been reported that Saulīte turned to the Saeima Bureau on Wednesday night with a statement of resignation.

She thanked the Saeima for his confidence in the early 2023, when she was entrusted with the position of chairman of the Central Election Commission.

However, she points out that in recent days, after hearing different views and accusations, she concluded that she was « caught in political whirlwind and intrigue, receiving insults and accusations of non -failure of other officials. »

Therefore, the sun has decided to resign on Thursday, « to maintain trust in important values ​​- honesty, justice, professionalism and democraticness ».

Saulīte expresses its gratitude to all the partners for their work.

Until then, factions of the Saeima’s ruling coalition have announced that the Central Dealing of the Commission Kristine Saulite has been agreed. The Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) promised to direct a draft decision on the withdrawal of the sun on Thursday’s sitting.

Edmunds Jurēvics, leader of the « New Unity » (JV) Saeima faction, told LETA that JV deputies would support the draft decision. In his view, it is clear that the sun should leave the position and take responsibility for what happened – especially for the electoral process and communication before the elections and on the election night.

Andris Šuvajevs, leader of the « Progressive » Saeima faction, also told LETA that members of the « progressive » Saeima faction would support the withdrawal of the sun.

From the opposition factions « Latvia in the first place », representatives of Latvia were said to support the withdrawal of the sun, but the National Association and the « combined list » would still be decided.

Saulīte said on Wednesday at the beginning of the Saeima Public Administration and Local Government Commission that she would resign, but had already thought after the meeting, saying she had not yet decided.

« I was not ready to have such accusations in the commission that I was irresponsible because I resign, it would not be responsible for me not to listen to this. »

In her opinion, political games are underway, where no one can justify why she should leave the position. In her opinion, the CEC has done an outstanding job. « The law stipulates that the system’s Digital Development Agency is responsible for the systems, » Saulite justified its position, saying that there was a number of stings in the field of responsibility of the State Digital Development Agency (VDAA).

« I take responsibility for what is in line with my competencies, » said Saulite, saying that she is « being » on top « at the moment.

CEC representatives said during the commission meeting that they could not take responsibility for systems that are not their responsibility. The representatives of the CEC had done their utmost to « prevent the emergency ».

State President Edgars Rinkēvičs announced after the elections that the CEC and VDA crashed in the organization of the elections, so the responsibility of the officials should be assessed.

Inga Berzina (JV), the Minister of Supervisory Administration and Regional Development of the VDAA, has suspended VDAA Director Joren Liop in connection with the elections in the election, but on Wednesday he also announced its resignation.

Liopa has not yet taken responsibility for the technical problems of the Election Night.
