The Saeima Commission will push for changes to refuse to pay off the remuneration / day of officials’ remuneration

The deputies made the decision by reading the letter from the Ombudsman’s Office to the commission stating that in November last year the provision adopted by the Saeima on the monthly remuneration of public officials did not comply with the Constitution.

In a letter, the Ombudsman has called on the promotion of amendments to the Saeima’s responsible public administration and municipal commission to exclude the exclusion of the Contested Norm from the Law on the State Administration.

« Let’s drive amendments to the law, because in his opinion, the Ombudsman said that the condition for the disclosure of remuneration creates a significant risk of violation of a person’s fundamental rights. The Ombudsman also said he was considering pursuing the Constitutional Court to defend the rights of officials to the security of their data.

Similarly, the Data State Inspectorate in a letter to President Edgars Rinkēvičs pointed out to the Constitution of the remuneration of officials.

It is planned to decide on the submission of the relevant amendment to the Law on the Soviet Saeima in September, Burov informs.

It has already been reported that on February 1, the requirement included in the Law on the State Administration Structure was to publish the name, position of the official on the website of the institution every month on the website of the Authority.

The Ombudsman Juris Jansons said that the public is entitled to information on the use of state budget funds, but the new regulation of public remuneration is in conflict with the rights guaranteed by the Satversme to the integrity of everyone’s privacy. The fact that authority officials receive income from the state budget does not make information on a particular person’s salaries less valuable in the sense of privacy protection, the Ombudsman noted.

In order to call for the elimination of the regulation of non -compliance with the Satversme, the Ombudsman applied to the Saeima and requested the legislature to decide on the exclusion of the regulation of the publication of the remuneration of new officials from the Law on Public Administration.
