The rugby star accuses: ‘The transgender athlete badly injured me, not her place’
I cannot reconcile with the injury I could avoid. I cannot be calm knowing that no one protected me and forbade me with transgender athletes to perform in women’s competitions, said 20-year-old Dutch rugby star Elena Kingwhich in January suffered a serious injury to the anterior cross ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL).
King was injured after a duel with a transgender athlete Ashley Mooney And he claims that that opponent should not have been on the ground at all because he is a biological man.
– I felt her strength, but I can’t explain her because I don’t own such strength as a woman. A biological woman couldn’t pull my leg out that way … I heard a very loud sound when my knee popped up, then I started screaming in agony, as if my leg was burning. I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone, I wish it didn’t happen to me because this situation could be avoided.
The transgender player consequently received four suspension matches for a misdemeanor that could seriously endanger the career of 20-year-old King, who is seriously considering a lawsuit against the opponent.
– She came from my left and hit me in my knee, which would never only turn in that direction. She pushed her shoulder into my knee and pulled my leg toward me with a huge power. Then I heard a terrible sound of shooting, screaming with full power, with one movement I was ranked by ACL and MCL in my knee … – King told King for The Times.
King explained that she was nervous ahead of the game because she is not accompanied by a good reputation. Namely, once she allegedly left a large fat under the eye of the opponent, and was involved in the injuries of the ribs and spine of her opponents.
– Later, they heard me that my teammates had gone off the field with their hands over my ears because my painors were too loud, – commented King, who was taken from the field by teammates because the opponent’s club had no carried at their disposal!?
– I knew a serious injury was at stake, I didn’t feel my knee at all. Later I found out that all my nerves in my leg were dead because my ligaments were completely destroyed. Suddenly I started to feel very lonely in my own body, as if my knee was no longer part of my body.
King is still thinking about the moment that could be catastrophic for her career.
– I can’t come to terms with that. I do not understand how the Dutch Rugby Federation allowed a biological man to participate in women’s sports, with a lot of contact with a lot of contact in which injuries are more likely.
In the end, he points out that security for all competitors should be a priority in sports.
– Inclusion is important, but it’s not a point. I am advocating for the safety of all women, we all are in the interest. Of course, we want every person to feel welcome in our society, so people say ‘why not?’ But then you see why some things are not possible. We have women’s sports competitions for a reason – the 20 -year -old concluded.
