The return of Easter excursions ongoing

Earlier than usual, Easter excursions appear to be returned to their base in large urban centers, and especially at the Attica that had obviously emptied last week.

Thus, many planned their return for early Easter Monday morning to avoid traffic as much as possible, while the largest volume of cars is expected until afternoon, as tomorrow is a working day.

According to the latest information, moving on Afidnes tolls is particularly high and vehicles have formed queues without much delays and problems. Many cars, however, are also moving to Athens as there were those who have found an opportunity for a short trip.

Small delays are observed on the Athens – Patras Highway, on the stream to Athens. The movement starts from the tolls in the arrow and reaches the tolls of Eleusis, by sections. In Athens – Lamia on the stream to Athens there is a gradual increase in traffic.

Although small delays are observed on highways and near tolls, no problems are recorded

28,728 vehicles have passed from Easter Sunday Tolls to Athens from 06:00 on Easter Sunday to this morning, ERT said. At the same time, 33,058 tolls passed through the tolls of Eleusis. In total, they abandoned the capital 24,389 and 26,283 vehicles respectively.

It is worth noting that from Good Wednesday, 500,000 cars have left, which will have returned all until Thomas Sunday.

High mobility is also observed at the Tolls of Rio as well as on the tolls of the Rio – Antirrio bridge. At least 2,500 cars leave on the stream to Athens per hour, a number expected to increase in the coming hours.

So far there, the return of excursions is being made without problems and the flow of vehicles in general is relatively slow but continuous.

Extraordinary Measures of Traffic

The design was carried out on the basis of the strategic planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, for complete and continuous activation of all Traffic Services and includes:

  • Intensive Traffic Police measures at the entrance-exits of large urban centers, where there is a large traffic of vehicles,
  • Increased Traffic Measures in places where mass trafficking is observed (airports, ports, stations, etc.),
  • Increased police presence and targeted policing of the roads of the road network, where there is a frequency of traffic accidents,
  • Developing measures and special actions in places to take place, festive events,
  • Cooperation with relevant bodies and services, as well as informing the citizens through the press offices, in any case where widespread information is necessary
  • of the public for the existence of any traffic and other problems.
  • Certificate of dangerous infringements, as well as violations that, according to statistics, are responsible for causing serious traffic accidents.

To this end, Special Tarale Audit workshops are active in alternating parts of the road network, focusing, inter alia, on violations such as:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol,
  • speeding,
  • Use mobile phone while driving,
  • non -use of protective helmet – security belt,
  • irregular overtaking and double -dividing overruns etc.,
  • Non -use of specific retention and protection means, such as seats, seat belts, etc., when transporting children with vehicles,
  • Driving vehicles by minors and people who do not have a driving license,
  • Driving for demonstration of skill,
  • vehicles, which have not undergone regular or extraordinary technical inspection within the set deadline,
  • worn tires and
  • irregular movement of vehicles in the emergency lane (LEA).

Throughout the application of the measures, both the staff and the media of the Greek Police, notably the Traffic Police Services, are on increased operational readiness. Drivers who have taken their return to large urban centers after Easter respite are recommended to show increased attention and patience.
