The PS in shirt sleeves and the hat PSD in hand
The arrogant inelegance with which Luís Montenegro and Nuno Melo treated Gonçalo da Câmara Pereira in the previous elections and with which they prepared to deal with in these, had the proper answer: the shadow game that was this ad was duly dissipated by a judgment of the Constitutional Court. AD was already.
AD was a deceit fair, where nothing it seemed to be: because there was nothing common between the original AD and this ad. This one, led by Sá Carneiro and Amaro da Costa, was animated by a deep reformist spirit and combat against the left. I am still very present what Adelino Amaro da Costa told me at the beginning of this project and, in the background, summarizing this project: « Pas d’Amis to Gauche, Pas d’Ennemis to Droite » that is, in a free translation, ‘we have no friends on the left or enemies on the right’. The toilet cord was placed on the left, not on the right. Exactly the opposite of this fake, already deceased and now buried Ad de Luís Montenegro.
It was important that the right -wing electorate understood that the PSD of Sá Carneiro and the PSD of Luís Montenegro only have the party’s name in common. Everything else separates them from the personality of one and the other to the party’s own structure. The 1979 PSD had a national base where a set of notables – the famous barons – had decisive weight in party orientation. The 2025 PSD is just a federation of small and medium municipal interests where barons were replaced by anonymous presidents of councils only known within the party machine for votes that concentrate to resolve internal disputes and elections. Cardoso and Cunha, who was one of the great ministers of Sá Carneiro, in two or three years designed, programmed and performed a work of the dimension of Expo. None of the current ‘remarkable’ Montenegro can even take a local work such as the Espinho Railroad: to the new notables, all that is not the useless and over-or-or-worm, the Olympic pools without water and the gimnodesport pavilions without sports are strange and alien. The PSD of Sá Carneiro had a vision for the country. Montenegro’s PSD is not beyond the next roundabout to build. With Sá Carneiro, S. Bento was in Espinho. With Luís Montenegro, it is a thorn that is in S. Bento.
The Portuguese middle class is in these elections to play its future. Any vote on the PSD or PS is to question a future of prosperity and national independence. Apparently there are some differences, which, in fact, do not exist, just alternation on the same axis. This tiring alternation between socialists and social democrats, it was the one who brought us to the misery we live in. All this aggravated by Brussels’ spending fury that is obliging us, through the obedient Dr. Montenegro, to toast Bilião in uselessness by order of his colleague von der Leyen. Because Espinho is not only in S. Bento, but also landed in Brussels. A misfortune never comes alone. The PS was no longer enough in shirt sleeves, the hat PSD was missing in hand. Fortunately, they walk there too, attentive, Orbán and Meloni. It would be advisable that on May 18 the Portuguese would reinforce the group of these last two. For Portugal to recover the power over its borders and its destiny.
