From next year, pregnant pregnant should no such paper folder. It should be replaced by an electronic pregnancy book.
The amendment was presented in the amendment to the Social Insurance Act by the Ministry of Labor under the leadership Erik Tomáš from the voice.
The electronic pregnancy book is not the only novelty. The Labor Department in the amendment talks about several changes towards greater digitization. This should mean less running around offices and sending various applications or documents.
« At present, only the process related to the temporary incapacity for work of the insured is fully digitized from all applications for social insurance benefits, » says the proposal of the Confederation of Trade Unions (KOZ) of Slovakia.
Both trade unionists and employers welcome the proposal, on Monday they are to negotiate with the ministry at the level tripartity.

Authorities have themselves to send information from each other
According to the Ministry, the authorities could send notifications to policyholders. For example, if they are unemployed or ill, they will send them information about what dose they are entitled to. They also inform them about the status of the benefit procedure.
The law does not specify how the authorities will send these notifications. It is therefore not clear whether it will send this information to people by SMS or by e-mail. However, both forms of contact should be used by the authorities in communication with clients.
The Ministry estimates that digitization will have the greatest impact on the public administration budget this year, almost seven million euros. Next year it is 4.5 million euros, and the next two years have already calculated less than two hundred thousand euros.

Most of this influence should be felt by the Social Insurance Agency’s budget. The department wants to pay the costs especially through the reallocation of funds within the plan of renewal and durability. It is one of the goals that the state has planned to set.
« Impact that will not be possible to finance on the basis of the reallocation in question will be the subject of negotiations to prepare the draft budget of public administration for 2026 to 2028, » adds the Ministry in the Act.

Obtaining most doses should also be simplified. The pregnant people would no longer have to write or send any documents to get pregnancy or maternity benefits. The new one is to be so -called proactive benefits – that is, which the state will pay automatically. These also include nursing, accident and pension benefits.
In pregnancy and maternity leave, the doctor will be able to create an electronic record of pregnancy with the expected date of delivery in the electronic health system. Authorities will pay benefits on the basis of this record, the pregnant will not have to send any additional application.
The payout of almost all sickness and accident insurance benefits should also be simplified. It will no longer be necessary to send the documents it already has repeatedly.
The employee shall send the benefit to the account for which the employer pays him a wage unless the employee asks for the payment of benefits to another account. According to the amendment, the employee’s account number should be reported to the Social Insurance Agency once. Self -employed will also report their accounts.
At present, people and companies have to send various certificates and documents to the Social Insurance Agency. According to the Confederation of Trade Unions of Slovakia, this increases the administrative expenditure and burden on the employer.
Employers’ unions agree that they support the amendment and recommend it for further legislative proceedings.
If the amendment passes, the effectiveness of the individual changes is set gradually. Some changes are intended to start to apply already this fall. Other than the reporting of employees’ bank accounts is estimated next spring.
Changes in the infirmary
The amendment is also introduced in the infirmary. After a new one, people could be entitled to it even if they treat a step parent, for example, their parent’s sick wife.
« This proposal takes into account the need to ensure the same access to the provision of the nursing, » the ministry explains. According to data from the Statistical Office in 2023, the change could affect more than a hundred thousand people.
After 30 days, people will also be able to change the treatment, and it is no longer necessary to confirm the doctor, only « consent to the end of the care and receipt of the taking of a care ».
What to change the amendment to the Social Insurance Act:
- Extension of the circle of authorized persons for the provision of a nursery by a spouse who is a stepless parent.
- Notification of an employee’s account number to the Social Insurance Agency.
- The company will no longer be obliged to notify the Social Insurance Agency the method of paying wages for each incapacity for work.
- Dealing the company’s obligations and self -employed to notify the interruption of insurance due to temporary incapacity for work.
- The employer will no longer have to process paper and keep the information about the need for care/treatment.
- The employer’s obligation to report an accident at work and an occupational disease is established electronically.
- Electronization of the employer’s confirmation for the purpose of entitlement to the guarantee insurance benefit is introduced.
- The policyholder will not have to deliver a confirmation of the need for care, treatment and pregnancy to the employer and the Social Insurance Agency. At the same time, the policyholder will not have to claim pregnancy and maternity benefit, as the application will be considered as an application for the attending physician in the electronic health system.
- The policyholder will be able to apply for nursing, pension and accident benefits electronically, and will not have to attend a branch of the Social Insurance Agency to submit the application.
- The policyholder will not have to be personally involved in assessing the health status of the Social Insurance Agency by the Social Insurance Agency in the event that the assessment physician does not require the personal participation. However, on the basis of a written application, he will be able to participate in personally in the assessment of health.
- An electronic pregnancy book is created, which will be part of the electronic medical book and will serve to register medical records related to pregnancy.
- The Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family will electronically verify the personal and all -day treatment of a sick loved person and personal and all -day care for a close person by a natural person from the care register of care in the natural environment.
