The prosecutor wants life imprisonment for Grzegorz O. The trial in Gliwice is coming to an end
Karolina O. († 30 years old) wanted to have a better life, which is why she left her husband and joined his brother. She lived with Grzegorz O. (31 years old) at home at ul. New in the creation. Unfortunately, this affair ended tragically. The crime that occurred on January 23 last year shocked the inhabitants of a small village.
She wanted a better life, she was brutally murdered
Karolina O., departing from her husband, wanted peace. He did not shun alcohol. Unfortunately, she fell from the rain under the gutter. Grzegorz O., like her husband, did not pour out the collar. The young mother wanted to leave him. Unfortunately Grzegorz O. did not allow it and made a murder plan.
On May 20, end speeches began in the District Court in Gliwice. Prosecutor Artur Bula has no doubt – Grzegorz O. was deliberately. He suspected Karolina about treason with another man. It was this motive that was supposed to push him to such a macabre act.
It was a planned crime – said the prosecutor
– It was a crime of revenge. He killed her because in his opinion she was unfaithful to him – emphasized the prosecutor in court. – He murdered in the garage, took a bag with the things prepared earlier, then went to the nearby police station, where he reported the murder – said prosecutor Bula. « Grzegorz O. has accurately planned every detail, » he added.
The man knew that Karolina O. would go to her daughter’s school that day. He chose the moment when the woman was getting ready to leave. He moved the ax that was in the basement every day to the garage.
He lured her to the garage. He said he had a surprise
– said Karolina O. that he has a surprise to trick her to the garage – said lawyer Marek Langosz, representing the victim’s family. He hit her with great force, three times in the back of the head, causing the skull to split. There is no mitigating circumstances here, he planned a crime, he was deliberately acting. He led to the orphaning of a small child, moreover, his own niece.
After the murder, Grzegorz O. took a bag with things. On the way he got drunk, not excluded that he wanted to escape. He changed his mind and on the same day he reported to the police, saying: « I wanted to report the murder of a former partner. »
Initially, Grzegorz O. did not plead guilty. He explained himself with oblivion and agitation. « I didn’t know who this person was, » he said during the interrogation. However, he later made explanations in which he admitted that he had killed Karolina.
Expert psychologists had no doubt – the motive was jealousy and a desire to revenge. Alcohol, which he had consumed for a long time, also influenced its lack of self -control.
The family demands justice: « it must be eliminated from society »
Karolina’s family lawyer did not spare sharp words to the accused. – He is a demoralized man, previously punished for violence. He planned this crime deliberately. He even watched films about prison, preparing for possible consequences – said Patron Langosz, representing the relatives of the murdered.
Karolina’s family demands the most severe punishment for Grzegorz O. – life imprisonment. – There is no way to rehabilitate such a man. It must be eliminated from society to protect others – emphasized the lawyer. The prosecutor’s office demands the same punishment.
In addition, relatives of the victim demand compensation in the amount of PLN 300,000. PLN for the daughter of Karolina, little Julia.
The accused apologized. I want a low penalty for herself
At today’s hearing (May 20) Grzegorz O. spoke – I wanted to apologize to the whole family – he said dispassionately. He and his defender asked the court to measure only 10 years in prison. They believe that such a punishment will be competent for the monstrous crime he has committed.
The court now has a difficult task. Will he impose the accused with the highest penalty? The verdict will be announced on June 2 this year.
