The program of the American delegation in Romania

A Delegation of eight members of the US Congress, Democrats and Republicans, led by Vern Buhanan, will meet in Bucharest with interim president Ilie Bolojan, with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, but also with Romanian parliamentarians.

The US delegation arrived in Romania Monday night.

According to the official announced program, representatives of the US Congress will be received by the interim president, Ilie Bolojan, at 11:00, at the Cotroceni Palace.

At 4:00 pm they will have discussions with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, at Victoria Palace.

American congressmen will also meet with Romanian parliamentarians.

Senate Vice -President Robert Cazanciuc said on Monday that the visit of a delegation of the US Congress to Romania is a message of ‘strategic partnership’ between the two countries.

‘I will also participate tomorrow in this meeting, it is a mixed delegation of Republicans and Democrats. I was a year ago, two years ago, in several visits to the United States, I went to Congress, I went to the Senate. Each time, the meeting was with the Republicans and Democrats. I never went to the Republicans or only to Democrats. We sought to keep this balance, because it is in the United States. It is a message, after all, by strategic partnership between Romania and the United States. There are two pillars in Europe, which have always been based on the United States-one in the north, called Poland, and one in the south, called Romania, « said the Social Democrat, at the Parliament Palace.

For his part, the leader of PNL senators, Daniel Fenechiu, highlighted the ‘very good’ relations of Romanian parliamentarians with American Congressmen.

‘The world summarizes the Romanian-American relations strictly at the entrance to Trump. Is incorrect. Many Romanian parliamentarians have very good relations with congressmen from the United States, there are bilateral relationships, there are friendly relationships. I believe that, ultimately, the Romanian-American relationships are on an upward trend, the things that interest them in principle will be discussed with the American delegation. We will all do lobby in the sense that Romania is a democratic state and that the decisions of the Constitutional Court are respected. They will probably have curiosities, they will ask us, we will clarify them and surely from this dialogue will be a better position of Romania in the area, « said Daniel Fenechiu.
