The program of events will be marked 35 years since Latvia’s independence restoration / day
In the morning at 9 pm, an ecumenical service will take place at Riga Dome. Similarly, from 9 am to 5 pm, the environmental object « Flower Latvia » will be on display at the Freedom Monument, where everyone is invited to participate, bringing spring flowers and creating the outline of Latvia. The event is organized by the Riga National Municipal Authority « Pardaugava Culture Association ».
From 10 am to 5 pm you will be able to visit the exhibition of the People’s Front Museum and the Latvian Ethnographic Open -Air Museum for free. At 10.30 a solemn flower -laying ceremony will take place at the Freedom Monument, but from 11 am to 5 pm in the courtyard of the Riga Porcelain Museum will be held at the Convention Farm, organized by a festival workshop organized by the Riga National Association of Cultural Institutions.
In the middle of the day, the Saeima will be held in the Saeima Chamber.
From noon to 5 pm in Vermanes Garden there will be a creative workshop « Idea Garden » and a concert performance « Miracle Capture », organized by the Riga National Municipal Authority « The Little Guild » « Culture and Folk Art Center » « .
From 12:30 pm to 3 pm on the Town Hall Square there will be a « Put on the People’s Costume in honor of Latvia! » 10th anniversary event organized by the Riga National Municipal Authority « Culture and Folk Art Center » Ritums « ».
Also, marking 35 years since the restoration of Latvia’s independence, from 1 pm to 2:50 pm on Freedom Square will be screened by the Latvian School Brass Band Defiled by a program organized by the National Agency for Education Development.
From 1 pm to 11 pm, the Latvian Film Marathon will take place at Splendid Palace and the portal « www.filmas.lv », where the latest Latvian films will be screened, including the Open Air Night. The event is organized by the National Film Center in cooperation with the Riga National Municipal Authority « Pardaugava Culture Association ».
At 1:15 pm, the main entrance of the Saeima will be honored by the members of the Supreme Council, organized by the Saeima, but at 13.30 there will be a solemn ceremony for the unity and solidarity of the Baltic States with Ukraine, as well as an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Latvia’s independence.
In the afternoon at 3 pm, Riga Castle will host the highest awards ceremony organized by the Office of the President, but from 3 pm to 9 pm in Freedom Square will host the singing of folklore groups, the solemn event and the concert « Roots » with public officials.
Similarly, from 3 pm to 16:10, the Iļģuciems Culture Center will feature a jazz concert « Improvisation on folk songs ». At the same time, the concert « You live forever, Latvia! » Will be held at the Culture Palace « Ziemeļblāzma », organized by the Riga National Municipal Authority « Orchestra » Riga « ».
From 4 pm to 5:30 pm « VEF » Culture Palace will have a concert program « Words of Power for Latvia », organized by the Riga National Municipal Authority « North Riga Culture Association ».
35 years ago, on May 4, 1990, 138 members of the Supreme Council adopted a declaration « On the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia ». It restored the Republic of Latvia, founded on November 18, 1918, which had not ceased to exist for 50 years of Soviet occupation.
