The prime minister told me he would resign
The president of the USR, Elena Lasconi, said on Thursday that Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu promised to resign, if the Union Save Romania will support Crin Antonescu's candidacy for the Presidency of Romania.
'We are at a time when, out of love for our country, we should shake our pride and make a wise decision. There are two days when we should dialogue and I'm glad I felt opening from this point of view; I mean, we'll talk again. On the other hand, the prime minister told me that he would resign from the position of prime minister, if we supported Crin Antonescu. And I told him to ask one question: if any Romanian who left Romania to work in the diaspora would ever vote for a president who in the last ten years has not worked at all and when he was in Parliament was known as a Chiulengiu, « said USR in a statement to the press at the Victoria Palace.
Lasconi said he would make a decision following discussions with party colleagues. On the other hand, he appreciated that he would be excluded that USR would support a man who 'in the last ten years has not worked at all'.
The USR leader stressed that he supports Ilie Bolojan for the position of president of Romania.
'I call on the wisdom of Mr. Ciolacu, Mr. Bolojan, Mr. Kelemen Hunor and the representatives of the minorities. Let's make a wise decision for Romania, « Lasconi said.
