The prestigious World Contemporary Pentathlon Championship will take place in Kaunas
The World Adult Contemporary Pentathlon Championship is the first such high -level Olympic branch competition in the history of Lithuania. The International Union of Contemporary Pentathlon (UIPM) only announced in December that it was our country who had the right to organize this competition. With the help of Kaunas City Municipality and Žalgiris Arena, the Championship was available on August 26-30. to organize the highest level in the Lithuanian arena.

Kaunas – the brightest stars of modern pentathlon
The World Contemporary Pentathlon Championships in Kaunas are expected to represent more than 40 countries, including the strongest pentathletes on the planet. The final list of participants will be revealed about a month before the event. There will be no new innovation in the championship. From now on, the country may not represent four at four, but eight athletes each. Thus, the most talented pentathletes in Lithuania will be able to gain the highest level of experience in their viewers. It is planned that our national team will represent eight athletes in women and men’s competitions.
« This championship is a historic event for contemporary pentathlon and all Lithuanian sports. It is a huge celebration and responsibility that we can have an event of this size. The walls and viewers of our own home will be very important and will help all Lithuanian pentathletes, » said Lithuanian champion Elze Adomaitytė.
Žalgiris Arena – ideal for contemporary pentathlon competitions
Not only in Lithuania, but also worldwide, it is difficult to find an arena where modern pentathlon competitions could take place under one roof. The Žalgiris Arena is ideal for this – during the World Cup, the number of fencestock, obstacle course and running -shooting will take place in the main arena and swimming in the arena pool. Today, UIPM President Rob Stullas also visited the competition.
Kaunas becomes the capital of modern pentathlon.
« I don’t know if I can be happier, the arena is amazing. I am a new UIPM president and I am glad that our sport shows that there is a flexible sport. The modern pentathlon was a traditional outdoor sport and now we move inside and maintain a high level of prestige and quality. This is a big and important step forward. The Žalgiris Arena is fantastic and is looking forward to the World Cup, ”said R. Stullas.
From this year, the format of the modern pentathlon competition has once again changed – the riding match has been officially replaced by the obstacle course and the entire competition has shortened to an hour and a half. These changes make modern pentathlon competitions more attractive for both television broadcasts and viewers. The LSPF plans not only the sports program during the World Pentathlon Championship, but also entertainment and other active activities for viewers who will enrich the event experience. What’s more, the organizers were joined by the most important music awards in the country by Mom and other major events.
« Over the years, the contemporary pentathlon competitions are shortening to an hour and a half from five days and this concept has a great deal of attention as they can get more involved and watch from one chair. The entertainment part with the show elements becomes an important part of short breaks between the match and gives viewers good emotions. The pentathlon competition has grown into very attractive events, ”said Kinder.
From tomorrow at 10am. morning, official ticket trade to all days of the championship will begin.
By the way, more international contemporary pentathlon competitions will be held in Lithuania this summer. Before the World Adult Championship, August 21-24, the Planetary Youth (under 19) preferences will be held in Druskininkai, and July 26-31.
