The President takes on the patronage / day of school Youth Song and Dance Celebration

On Monday, the President met with Minister of Education and Science Dace Melbardi (JV) at Riga Castle.

During the meeting, the issue of provision of teaching aids to schools, planned restrictions on distance learning in basic education, and the minister’s vision of the funding model A program at school further implementation.

During the meeting, Melbourne also invited Rinkēvičs to become the patron of the XIII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Celebration.

« With great honor, responsibility and joy I will take on the duties of the XIII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Celebration. I hope that this celebration will strengthen our children and youth belonging to Latvia, Latvian and culture, » the President emphasized.

In his opinion, this year’s festival will be special, as the Covid-19 pandemic time for many children and young people denied experiencing the holiday in person, and many young people left the Song Festival movement and did not return.

The President hopes that many young people from all over Latvia and the Latvian diaspora will be involved in the Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Celebration.

He pointed out that the interest of young people to engage in the Song and Dance Celebration movement depends on the quality, experience rich and safe of this holiday.

Rinkēvičs also welcomed the minister’s commitment to concentrating resources to increase the number of support staff in schools and to expand the range of teachers for teachers.

« These measures will help school teams better support children with a variety of needs, to recognize difficulties and at the same time reduce the risk and burnout risk of teachers, » the President noted after the meeting.
