President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed bill About adaptive sports that involves the involvement of veterans and people with disabilities.
The document officially recognizes such sports as a separate area of physical activity, the ministry reported in veterans And the ministry Young and sports Ukraine.
Adaptive sports are a direction of physical activity for people with disabilities and restriction of daily functioning, the purpose of which is their rehabilitation, inclusion and full participation in society.
The bill supplements the current normative act « On Physical Culture and Sport », defining:
- powers of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Coordination of Adaptive Sports Development, Higher Achievements of People with Disabilities;
- bodies that will organize such measures;
- powers of local administrations and self -government bodies to ensure the conditions for the development of adaptive sports;
- The role of sports federations in promoting the development of adaptive sports.
The law also stipulates that the conditions for adaptive sports should be created at the place of residence of veterans and people with disabilities, as well as in sanatoriums, recreation areas and tourist bases.
”Adaptive sports will now help people with disabilities restore physical and mental health and will contribute to their successful self -realization. This is a significant step towards creating an effective system for developing adaptive sports in Ukraine « – the Ministry of Veterans explained.
