On April 9, the postman of the Kraków 23 Post Office, Mr. Aleksander, was to deliver the parcel « to his own hands » to an elderly man living with his wife at ul. Maria Jarema. The deliveryer knocked and called on the door, but to him a great surprise, nobody opened. Mr. Aleksander was very worried. For years, he served on marriage and suspected that something could happen.
The postman asked for help a neighbor and at her company tried to enter the apartment of seniors. The door was open. Inside, he found a strongly confused and scared pensioner who has been suffering from dementia for a long time. She only repeated all the time: « The husband has felt bad and she has been lying for several days. » Mr. Aleksander entered the bedroom and, to his terror, found a woman’s dead husband there. « In fact, the man has been dead for some time, » describes Poczta Polska.
The senior suffers from advanced dementia
« Thanks to the reaction of Mr. Aleksander, help was called. The woman was taken care of by doctors and social services – she was dehydrated and in a bad condition, » informs Poczta Polska.
– It was a very difficult moment. The client, suffering from advanced dementia, probably did not realize that her husband was already dead. She lived with him in the apartment, not asking anyone for help, not understanding what happened – says Mr. Aleksander in an interview with « Gazeta Krakowska ».
