Bishop prof. dr hab. Kazimierz Romaniuk died on Tuesday, February 25. The senior bishop of the Warsaw-Prague diocese was 97 years old. His funeral took place on Saturday, March 1. What happened at the end of the funeral mass could have been a surprise for those gathered. It turned out that despite very poor health, Pope Francis remembered about the Polish episcopal. According to Vatian News, he sent a special letter. It was read in the church at the end of the funeral mass.

The letter was signed by Pope Francis stayed in the hospital On Thursday, February 27. The Vatican News portal reports that Pope Francis gave the bishop, family of the deceased and all the faithful « words of paternal closeness ». He pointed out that he was spiritually connected with all participants of the funeral liturgy, thanking God for the zealous pastoral service of the late Bishop Kazimierz, which he undertook for the good of the Church in the Warsaw-Prague diocese, and earlier in the Archdiocese of Warsaw.
