The political ambitions of Nicolas Sarkozy’s son Louis
When Nicolas Sarkozy moved into the Elysée Palace in the summer of 2007, a shy ten-year-old boy was on the red carpet at his mother Cécilia. Louis Sarkozy belonged to the colorful patchwork family, which the president presented to the public on that day. But the idyll was played: Cécilia Sarkozy left the head of state just a few months after his take office and went to New York with the entrepreneur Richard Attia. Louis Sarkozy accompanied his mother and visited a military academy in the United States. He studied and married the Croatian Natali Husic, a graduate from the Georgetown University, who also worked as a model.

His compatriots looked at the development of the « Petit Louis », as he was called for a long time. Until the latest presidential son announced in a message to his friends last year: « The psychological hurdle has been overcome, we return to France. » The return to the old homeland used the historic Sarkozy to publish a book about Napoleon. Although « L’Empire des Livres » only sold a good 2,000 times, it was a springboard for « Sarko Junior ».
The energetic 28-year-old developed into a sought-after commentator in a few months. On the television station LCI, he can be seen every Saturday in a debate with the left -wing politician Raquel Garrido. The right -wing extremist magazine « Valeurs Actuelles » hired it as a columnist and in Belgium Sarkozy produces the « En Toute Liberté » podcast, which brings it into contact with French politicians. Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, Minister of Defense Sébastien Lecornu and Minister of Culture Rachida Dati, who has known him since childhood, already received him.
« Louis Sarkozy is treated like the heir to the throne. He is asked about world politics with a courtesy that says a lot about our presidential monarchy, » criticizes Garrido in the newspaper « Libération ». The 28-year-old does not keep his opinion behind the mountain. He admires US President Donald Trumpis a weapon and represents hard positions in immigration policy. France should become a « machine » for the assimilation, he demands.
The enormous privilege to be his son.

The muscular man with the full beard and the round scholar glasses admits that his ideas are not far from those of the right -wing populist racial embleme nationally (marginal) – « except in economic policy », as he says « Libération ». However, he excludes a collaboration – « Imagine with a party that my father fought so much. » A TV debate with RN party leader Jordan Bardella, just a year older than him, he would not be averse.
The junior now apparently wants to start a political career with the name of the father. In menton an der Cote d’Azur, the son could apply to the local elections as mayor next year, several newspapers report. Nicolas Sarkozy also went into politics at 28 – as a mayor in the chic Paris suburb of Neuilly.
Louis Sarkozy regularly expresses admiration for his father. When asked whether he had suffered from being a presidential child, he replied to the « Figaro Magazine »: « Never. The little suffer was far exceeded by the enormous privilege of being his son ». He largely stays away from the affairs in which Nicolas Sarkozy is involved. In contrast to his semi-siblings, he did not appear in the courtroom when the ex-president was convicted of bribery last year to wear a boast for a year.

For the 70-year-old, the judgment meant the end of all political ambitions. For his youngest son, politics could begin with the local elections. The junior already rented an apartment in menton together with his wife, who is expecting a child. He assured: « I am nowhere to be a candidate. » But until the local elections, it has been there for almost a year.
