The police thwarted the attempt to fraud. A woman could lose a fortune
The uniforms blocked the transaction at the last minute and prevented the loss of cash. The incident occurred last Monday, April 7, in Toruń.
Concern on her husband
A worried man contacted the police officers in Toruń Śródmieście. A moment earlier he noticed very disturbing transactions on the bank account. He tried to reach his wife, who also owned this bill, but she did not answer the phone. The man called her work and determined that the woman ran out in a hurry, after telephone contact with allegedly a policeman.
Quick police reaction
The police officer’s duty officer immediately became suspected that the woman could fall victim to fraudsters acting by the « policeman » method. Because she did not answer the phone from uniformed, they began to act immediately. Criminals from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Toruń also joined the help of officers from the police station. After a while they found her at one of the Toruń Bitomats.
Manipulation and quick loan
The 52-year-old explained that a policeman contacted her by phone, who convinced her that she had fallen victim to fraudsters. The woman was convinced that she talked to a real officer. Criminals determined that the victim was so manipulated that by carrying out the man’s phone commands, she took out a rapid loan in the amount of 198,000. PLN at her bank, then exchanged it in the exchange office for a foreign currency, and then went to the bit.
Thwarted transaction
Policemen immediately contacted the payment operator and at the last moment they managed to block the possibility of paying these funds by fraudsters, and also received assurance that the funds would go back to the victim. Thanks to their experience, knowledge of the perpetrators and intuitions acquired after years, Torunianka avoided the loss of almost 200,000. zloty. Currently, investigators determine who is behind the attempt of this fraud.
