The paraglider from Poland disappeared in Colombia. Are there any more opportunities?
Witold Gilarski, a gynecologist and an avid paraglider, went to Colombia to the competition. On March 1, he took part in a 57 km race south of Santa Fe de Antioquia. Shortly after the start, he had to land in the middle of the jungle. It is known that he succeeded. He made the first and only contact 28 hours after disappearance. He said he was coming back to civilization. And here the trail broke up.
The daughters moved heaven and earth to find dad
A large -scale search for Colombian services, friends and volunteers combed a huge area. No trace was found anywhere. Two Gilarski daughters went to Colombia, who also took part in the search.
– Together with my sister we moved heaven and earth to find our dad. Our stay in Colombia lasted 13 days and was filled with constant meetings, telephones, organizing subsequent steps, submitting letters and conducting talks with the enormity of people. We also donated blood in the event of DNA comparative research – says Aleksandra Gilarska. – We dared to fly a helicopter and a paraglider with drive, and all this to be one step closer than finding a dad – he adds.
The Colombian services officially ended the search on March 19. Later, friends and volunteers went into the area, who raised funds on the internet for further search. Combating subsequent areas, unfortunately, had no effect.
They found no trace
The daughters of Witold Gilarski returned home with nothing. « Unfortunately, we do not know what happened to our dad. It is possible that he had an accident because of a large inclination of the area or is held somewhere, » admits the daughter of a missing paraglider. « Despite all possible search methods, no trace was found on him. We are coming back home sad and powerless, » she added.
A red cross and prosecutor’s office still operates in Colombia. The spark of hope is still shocking that the Polish doctor miraculously will find herself, but the chances of it are small. « But if it was supposed to be so, fate wanted so, God wanted to (unnecessary to delete), then we feel that this is a kind of » natural « and a dream way for every adventure lover, traveler and athlete at the end of his history, » said the daughter of Witold Gilarski.
