The opposition was missing in the President’s report criticism of corruption and attacks on democracy

Only words are not enough, says Šimečka.

BRATISLAVA. President Peter Pellegrini presented in National Council a report on the state of the republic.

The reactions were provided by representatives of the coalition and the opposition.

Robert Fico, Prime Minister

« The President’s report was a good attempt at a balanced speech. But in the end, he had an unbalanced part where he spoke of the government’s foreign policy. The departure of Slovakia from the European Union membership and NATO It does not exist. Slovakia is part of these organizations. We consider the EU to be our living space, and in this spirit we also behave. The President succumbed to the atmosphere that is created against the government. Slovakia wants to be a sovereign member of the Union. I reject the idea that it should be a Member State that will be subject to a single right political opinion and nothing else. We want to listen and be obedient to stroke us on our heads and have holy peace, or will we speak our opinions sovereign and we will protect the national interests of Slovakia? «

According to him, the President chose a form that did not have the ambition to divide but connect the company. « He did not put himself in the role of a judge among the camps, on the contrary, he was looking for a common vision for our country. I am glad that the President also appreciated the work of a government in areas where people had improved the daily lives of people, » he said.

He also appreciated that he devoted much of the report to the future. « Because this part is a vision for the whole government coalition, so that we have the courage to bring solutions that go beyond one term and to have the courage to remove resortism in our ministries. »

Within foreign policy, it cannot be returned to the West. »

« The President named that people in Slovakia today feel frustration and fear. That they are troubled by high prices, the state of our health, endangered geopolitical security of Slovakia. Robert Fico. It is responsible for the fact that it does not solve the problems of people, but only themselves. It approves annuities, twice the salaries, impunity, but it has given people expensive, spreading hatred and pulling us away from Europe. The foreign policy isolation and abandonment of the West, which is absolutely crucial for our safety and prosperity, are particularly alarming and pose a huge risk for Slovakia. Only words are not enough. President Pellegrini should finally intervene as an honorary party chairman. It has a direct impact on the government does not spread hatred, that it does not pull us away from Europe and finally start solving the real problems of people. ”

Freedom and solidarity

« The President agreed with the opposition of the government criticism. The speech also had shortcomings. We lacked the clear name of corruption. Over the past months we have witnessed the huge stealing of the Eurofunds for haciation and luxury villas. Tomáš Tarab As if the president absolutely ignored the interests of citizens and local governments.
