For nearly two thousand years, we have been praying to a cross nailed to the cross. Before the holidays in which a man dying, we tend to run, buy air tickets somewhere in the heat, because under the surface of welcoming spring there is an archetypal drama of farewell and death, our earliest secrets, the return that we all have at the end of our own Gardens.

All our loved ones who have gone through them paused forever. The same silence and open grave begins the ceremonies of Big Friday. Easter It is a powerful initiative matter.

Christ’s drama has deeper roots than Christian chronology, spring holidays are older than the Gospels. Easter vigil, sacrificial lamb, ice water chry in the neck are all symbols of archetypal meanings. The Christian and pagan myth is just meeting in the depths of the symbolic language.

Crucified Christ does not deny death, he will undergo it. Its terrible end is a frightening peak of human suffering: mockery, loneliness, physical torment and terrible spiritual emptiness. Christ dies not only as a body, dying as a projection of the almighty protector, who generously hits and causes a happy reversal or a miracle, whenever we dive with the Father. Instead, silence, darkness, absence, grave remain. The sudden absence of God hurts, hurts terrible, repels.

At a time when Western culture is swept in the desire for eternal youth, immortality in the form of algorithms and genetic codes, the message of Easter is radical: not to die means not to change. If we want to turn something better than we are today, without lowering us into the grave, it will not work. Death gives all existence depth.

The consciousness of death encourages us to couragelessly and desperately love, desire, dream without barriers. Death, our most frightening secret, is a prerequisite for intensity. If we were immortal, we would lose the ability to act with urgency. Our day is today, this is our lesson, yours and mine, another will not occur. Death limits everything, gives shape, contour, meaning.

That is why human love, which is born in the shadow of transience, is so strong. That is why human dreams are so bold. In a sense, death is the highest form of order, organizing life into the story. To live in an amorphous fog without beginning and end, but in the story.

We all have ours, one long, the other does not. At the end of everything we have to go through, however, there is a garden and an unlocked gate at the end.
