The only red-pink coalition throughout Austria to test bench-diepresse.com

In five of the nine federal states, black and blue rules – only two
ÖVP-SPÖ state governments-red-pink and red-green exceptions

On April 27, the Viennese are called to choose. The only red-pink coalition is being tested across Austria. If, after the election, there is no longer a majority for the SPÖ and NEOS in the local council, Greens and ÖVP are available as possible SPÖ coalition partners. In any case, the federal capital continues against the Austria -wide trend. The most common variant with five state governments is currently black and blue. There are only twice VP/SP coalitions, once it rules red-green.

The coalition variant between the ÖVP and FPÖ, which is now in five of the nine federal states, was clearly on the rise. Most recently, such a state government was added in Styria, for the first time with the freedom not as a junior partner but at the governor’s chair. The black and blue variant has existed in Upper Austria since 2015, since 2023 in Lower Austria and Salzburg and also in Vorarlberg since November 2024.

Formerly grand coalitions fell behind

Until a few months ago, the two variants (ÖVP-SPÖ or ÖVP-FPÖ) were still weighed with three such cooperation. Since then, after the state election in October and in Styria, new ÖVP-FPÖ governments have been added in Vorarlberg after the election in November. In return, the only black and green coalition at the state level in Vorarlberg ended, in Styria one of three remaining black and red governments was elected. ÖVP and SPÖ no longer have the necessary majority of mandate. Since then, the former « Grand Coalition » of the ÖVP and SPÖ has only been available in Carinthia since 2013 (dominated by the SPÖ) and in Tyrol since 2022 (under a ÖVP state captain).

For the Greens, the Burgenland election in January brought a comeback after several setbacks. With that in Vorarlberg, the Öko party, which was still at the helm in six countries in six countries in six countries as a junior partner of ÖVP or SPÖ, was lost in November the last government participation at the country level if one refrained from proportional places. Since then, she also had to switch to the opposition role at the federal level.

The NEOS have been reigning with the SPÖ in Vienna since 2020 in the first red-pink coalition. Before that, the NEOS had also been represented in a state government in the so -called « dirndl coalition » in Salzburg in the so -called « dirndl coalition » (from ÖVP, Greens and Neos). “Absolute” has never been around since the state election in Burgenland.
