The number of foreign tourists is growing in the second quarter
Prime Minister Christian Mickoski is pleased with the results of tourism in the first quarter and expects the number of foreign guests to grow in the second. The government’s plan is to reach four million nights this year. This is what a journalist question about the published tourism figures from the State Statistical Office.
– I am extremely pleased, because it is quality and significant data, especially for service and catering. I can say that in the first four months the number of tourists is growing by a historic 20 percent compared to last year. Both in April and in the first four months, but the structure of tourists is changing. Now we see that there are tourists from France, Germany and so on – said Mickoski.
He pointed out that from the information he receives from tour operators, more than half a million nights outside the season in Ohrid are planned, which, as he emphasized, will mean a lot to our country.
The prime minister in response referred to last year’s tourism figures and estimated that there were a record 1.2 million tourists with 3.5 million registered overnight stays.
– This year our goal is to reach 4 million nights and millions of tourists. I hope we succeed, the first parameters are good. In the second quarter, in the first days of April the number of 21 percent of foreign guests and 20 percent of the nights spent. It is a good input for the gross domestic product in the second quarter – said Prime Minister Christian Mickoski.
