The night of museums at the funeral home. Death without secrets
Crowds of volunteers have proved that the topic of death and burial ceases to be a taboo subject. The organizers of the event really tried. The funeral home opened its door to show what the work of the dead from the backstage looks like.
What happened in the funeral parlor?
Participants had the opportunity to look at the technical background, learn how the process of preparing a deceased person for burial is, and listening to superstitions related to funerals. Sounds dark? Maybe a little, but the organizers made sure that the atmosphere of visits did not resemble a tourist trip. It was rather about transferring knowledge while maintaining the dead due to the deceased.
– Despite the bad weather, because it was still raining, queues of volunteers line up to us. Our plant will be open to 2.00 at night – Sławomir Kucharski, the owner of the company, told us on Saturday, who organized such an unusual night for the first time. – People ask about the rituals and superstitions about the burial, one of them sounds so as not to hide the deceased « after Sunday ». We often meet with this superstition. We always answer that the family must feel good when organizing the funeral and chooses the date.
Coffins, like works of art
Unusual exhibits aroused the greatest emotions. Coffins in the shape of gold bars or hand -painted models that resembled works more than the last resting place, attracted eyesight.
– These are conceptual projects, the coffin in the shape of a bars of gold never sold. This painted is 22 years old and was created to be a work of art. We will never sell it – says Sławomir Kucharski. – The artist who created it is already dead.
But that’s not all! Participants of the unusual night could take part in the workshops of creating tombstones. What’s more, you could admire the urns that delighted with creative design. It is about a motorcycle helmet -shaped urns or e.g. football.
Memory diamonds. What is that?
During the event there were also extraordinary guests. Balsamists, secular ceremonies, psychologists and clergy appeared on the spot. Together with the participants, they talked about death, transience and how to deal with mourning. Lectures enjoyed great interest, and the guests’ questions were endless. They particularly interested guests memory diamonds.
– It’s an artificial diamond. A bit of human gunpowder is added to the coal to be created. For now, no one has used such a service with us – adds the owner of the funeral parlor.
Visitors to the plant directed a lot of questions to your balsamist who preserves bodies. —Thhm the service is done when you have to wait with the funeral. – Mrs. Weronika Bachorska (30 years old) does it. He has a lot of experience and strong nerves – adds Sławomir Kucharski.
