The new tram will affect more than the SND. People worried about the turnover in the middle of the city

After the planned new tram line, the Bratislava people will take the Miletičova market from Šafárikovo Square in the Šafárikovo Square in Nine and a half minutes. Although it would be about three kilometers of track, it is most discussed on the areas in front of the new SND building.

However, the Pribinova-Košická track will also change Košice Street, and the Miletičova marketplace will also significantly affect.

The city envisages a new turnover immediately next to the marketplace on the site of the current unkempt park. At the same time, the track occupies the southwest edge of the marketplace.

Some perceive the intention critically. In addition to demanding technical solutions before the SND, residents criticize trees in Košice or cancellation of dozens of parking spaces.

The new tram will serve the rapidly developing so -called. New center around Mlynské Niva. At the same time, the track establishes the possibility of extending to Vrakun and Podunajské Biskupice in the future.

The expected start of construction is in 2028, it could be completed in 2030. The city wants to build money from the Eurofunds. He has to cooperate with the private investor JTRA, signed with him a memorandum.

Košická loses the trees

The organization of transport would be changed in several places. Alongside the track should be bicycle paths if there are missing today and repaired sidewalks.

The tram will be led in the center belt on Košická Street. Dozens of trees would therefore fall, which hinders the inhabitants of the street.

Conservationist Katarína Šimončičová pointed out that the trees that provide an important shadow of the street cannot be replaced by new trees to which they will run for years to grow.

The EIA Monika Puppaid processor says that the agreement needs to be sought. « Someone wants parking, someone cycling trail, someone trees. When we want to place everything in the street, we will not avoid excavation, » she said at a public discussion.

The felled trees will be replaced and Ginka from the middle belt of Košice will push the nearby Páričková. The surface of the track on Košice should be grassed.

The city district of Ružinov again required modifications of the courtyards around Košice Street.

Miletička will change

Older visualizations show that the changes after the construction of the track will hit the first row of stalls and the fencing of Miletičova’s marketplace will change.

Where the new tram stop is not yet certain, one of the variants is considering the stop west of the marketplace, the other at the northern entrance.

The city prefers a third variant with a turnover at the Salesian stop and connecting to the track to Ružinov at the expense of the park next to the marketplace.

Processors say it has been in a dismal state for many years, and it is more of a transit space.

The inhabitants from the surrounding area asked about the public hearing how much the tram would have on life in close surroundings when they lose the trees and parking spaces.

The possibility that the track would not be built is considered to be inadmissible. In the urban area, it expects an increase in residents, employees and visitors to over 200,000. « These people will otherwise remain on the road, which will worsen constipation, » the authors of the report warn.

The third variant also includes a new interconnection to Štúr. So the trams from Petržalka would not go to the floodplains, but the number 1 line from the city center. The transfer would be possible at Šafárikovo Square and the marketplace Miletičova, where the stop is Salesians. This would also welcome the transport company, because if there was a problem in some part of the track, the tram could continue in a different direction.

Determination of transport lines is not yet definitive. It is pre -assumed that the bus will remain to Petržalka. The number 50 line, which copies the tram line, would be canceled, is one of the most delaying lines and does not manage the demand. The tram will bring more capacity and speed.

A dispute over the influence of theater

The future tram track in the Chalupkov zone will also lead a new SND building on Pribinova Street, said the Mayor of Bratislava Matúš Vallo at the end of October 2019. The city has already rejected other possibilities.

The intention was criticized by experts and lay people, including the SND or the Ministry of Culture. They had several studies on the impact of noise and vibration on the theater building.

Still, there is no intervention in the underground spaces of the theater, which mentions partially covetting or strengthening the roof so that it can kidnap the tram’s weight. Experts and theater have seen several risks in both cases.

The Technical Director of the Theater Ľubomír Čarvaga pointed out that it is not clear how long the theater will have to interrupt the operation.

The question is also how the tram will change the space in front of the theater, which actually has the entrance from the other side. According to activist and musician Anton Popovič, its appearance was made.

On the contrary, the main architect of the city of Bratislava Juraj Šujan recalls that people are staying closer to the waterfront.
